Jean T. Taylor, 90, wife of the late Brooks Taylor, of Mappsville, passed away on April 25, 2019 at her residence.

Born on December 31, 1928 in Belle Haven, VA, she was the daughter of the late Allie P. Taylor and Mollie Killmon Taylor. She was a retired school bus driver for Accomack County Public Schools and owned “Jot-Em-Down” Produce fruit stand in Mappsville for over 50 years. Jean was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she was a long time member of the ID Class and the Womans Missionary Union. She loved church events and faithfully served in the church kitchen. She loved gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.

Jean is survived by two daughters, Tammie Sterner and husband, Bryan of Spring Grove, PA and Bonnie Custis and husband, Bill Tom of Cashville; a son, David Taylor and wife, Mary Lou of Mappsville; a sister, Pauline Byrd of Lakeland, Fl; a brother, Joe Taylor and wife, Patty of Exmore; sister-in-law, Rose Ellen Taylor of Jamesville; three grandchildren, Nikki Murawski and husband, Jared of Putnam, CT, Casey Johnson of Chincoteague and David Taylor, Jr. of Roanoke Rapids, NC.

Other than her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by a son, Chucky Taylor and a brother, Bill Taylor.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 PM from the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley. Interment will follow in the Wessells Cemetery in Mears. VA.
