Jamesia Shanae Nelson, affectionately known as “Mesha Bug,” passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, in Parksley, Virginia. She was born on November 3, 1990, in Nassawadox, Virginia, and was an example of joy and love to all who knew her. To know her was to love her.

Mesha was an avid member of Macedonia AME Church growing up and was a member of the youth choir and loved singing every second Sunday. She was also a member of the YPD. Jamesia was a proud graduate of Nandua High School and furthered her education at ECPI College, where she honed her skills and prepared for a bright future. Her passion for life was evident in everything she did. She had an entrepreneurial spirit, which shone through her work with DoorDash and InstaCart. She and her mother enjoyed making deliveries together daily. Above all, her favorite pastime was riding around with her beloved sons, LeWann and Kobe, who were the center of her universe. Mesha was the epitome of a devoted mother, and her unwavering love and dedication to her boys will forever be cher-ished.

Jamesia was preceded in death by her sweet baby boy, Ashton Moore, Jr.; and her grandparents, Emma Matthews, Frank Matthews, Jr., Robert Lewis Burton, and Randolph Baines; as well as her great-grandmother, Mary Lee Williams.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, carried on by her loving sons, LeWann and Kobe Pace; her mother, whom was also her twin, Alesia Matthews; father, James Nelson, Sr.; grandmother, Patricia Hope; brothers, Markice (Traea) Matthews, whom she affectionately called “Brother,” James Bundick, Tyronia Upshur, Tomar Jones, TreZaun Fosque, James Nelson, Jr., and Ja’Mez Nelson; aunts, Shenia (Earl) Davis, Tasha Mason, and Preschelle Nelson; uncles, Melvin (Betty) Giddens, William Nelson, Winston Miller, Julian (Carrie) Washington, III, and Quinton Washington; and her great-aunt, Mary Washington; niece and nephew, Makiyah Matthews and Markice Matthews, Jr.; and a host of family and friends.
