December 13, 1939 – August 21, 2025
Gregory White Brennan passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
Born in 1939 in the Bronx, NY, Greg moved with his family at a young age to East Atlantic Beach, NY, where his lifelong love of the water began. At just 17, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard shortly after graduating high school.
Greg went on to become a respected foreman and superintendent with the Iron Workers Union Local 580 in New York City. He worked on numerous skyscrapers and proudly taught in the Ironworkers apprenticeship program. He had a rare talent for problem-solving-whether it involved fixing something, building it from scratch, or figuring out how things worked.
In 1994, Greg and his wife Pat relocated to Virginia’s Eastern Shore, drawn by its natural beauty and like-minded community. There, he formed deep friendships and pursued his love of hunting, fishing, and training his beloved retrievers. He was a proud Irish American who deeply appreciated Irish music and culture. A skilled woodworker, he was also an active member of several local clubs.
Greg was predeceased by his parents, John Brennan and Rose O’Connor Brennan, and his brothers, Kevin and Brian Brennan. He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Lagasse Brennan; his daughter, Alicia Brennan; and stepchildren, Donna Schellinger Teich (Jerry), Diane Schellinger McDevitt (Rob), and Thomas Schellinger (Amber). He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Maggie Brennan, many cherished grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A private family ceremony will be held at a later date to celebrate Greg’s life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
