Catherine Elizabeth Evans of Onancock

Catherine Elizabeth Evans entered into eternal bliss on Thursday, September 21, 2023 after 100 years of a rich and fulfilling life. She was born July 9, 1923 and was a lifelong resident of Onancock, VA.

Catherine graduated from Onancock High School, class of 1940, where she played the violin in the school band. She grew up attending Onancock Baptist Church with her family and remained a member for most of her life, having volunteered in the nursery for 30 years. In 2012, she became a member of Onley Baptist Church. Catherine loved the Lord and was grateful for her church families. She loved life and cherished every moment spent with loved ones.

She was predeceased by her parents, Ruby and Tom Elliott; her husband of 63 years, S. Royce Evans; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Doris Elliott; and great-grandson, Steven Payne. She is survived by her brother, Edward Elliott (Mary Alice); children, Betty Howell and Damon Evans (Janet); grandchildren, Maggie Hickman (Bill), Andy Howell (Sandy), Jackie Dickson (Mike), John Harden (Tamarah); great-grandchildren, Katie Chisholm (Lee), Drew Howell (Jamie), Josh Howell (Shaina), Samantha Howell, Daniel Hickman, Ashley Macaioni, Adam Shenk (Brittany), Dylan Oleson (Lauren); eleven great-great grandchildren; and multiple nieces.

Funeral services for Catherine Elizabeth Evans of Onancock will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home on Wednesday morning at 11, with The Reverend John Burr officiating. Private interment will follow in the Mount Holly Cemetery.
