Arthur Thomas Nielsen

Arthur Thomas Nielsen, known as Tom and Poppop, passed peacefully on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the age of 90. He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Nielsen; his children, Thomas Dail Nielsen (Diane Lalosh), Kristina Holly Nielsen, Timothy William Nielsen, and Alexander Sandorf Nielsen; grandchildren, Shannon Nielsen Reda (Frank Reda), Tanner William Nielsen, Rachael Cheyenne Nielsen, Karalynn Maria Nielsen, and Alexander Sandorf Nielsen, Jr. (AJ), great-granddaughters, Scarlett and Harley Reda; and his younger brother, Alfred John Nielsen.

Tom was active in the Boy Scouts of America having served as an adult troop leader, executive director of Westchester/Putnam Council, NYS, and executive director of the Lancaster County Council, PA. Over the years, he greatly influenced countless young men in their journey to becoming America’s next leaders.

Tom received his B.S. in Civil Engineering at George Washington University as well as an MBA from the University of New Haven. He became a licensed professional engineer in several states and worked for several prestigious engineering firms in New York City, Connecticut, and Harrisburg, PA.

Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed tying his own flies. He also was an active member of the Naomi Makemie Presbyterian Church in Onancock, VA.

A memorial service will be held at Naomi Makemie Presbyterian Church on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., with The Reverend Monica Gould officiating. A reception will follow in the church social hall.
