Mrs. Amanda Evelyn Marshall Reed, 84, beloved wife of the late Ronald Wayne “Ronnie” Reed, and a resident of DeLand, FL, formerly of Onancock, VA, passed away peacefully at 11:30 a.m. on August 23, 2025 at AdventHealth Hospital in Daytona Beach, FL. Born October 6, 1940 in Crisfield MD, she was the daughter of the late George Maurice Marshall Gladys Evans Marshall.

Soon after graduating from Crisfield High School, Amanda moved to Virginia and began working as a switchboard operator with C&P Telephone Company. She remained dedicated to her career as C&P transitioned to Verizon and later transferred to the engineering department, retiring after 35 years.

Amanda was a devoted wife, mother, and friend to all. She enjoyed cooking and playing BINGO, but especially treasured time spent with family.

Left to cherish her memory are her grandson, PJ Sharpley (who she loved and cared for like a son) and his wife, Andy; niece and nephews, Roland Somers (Carol), Linwood Smack, Jr. (Michelle), Anna Davis, and Mike Reed; and stepdaughter, Diane Reed; as well as many other extended family members. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, B.F. Denston; brother, Maurice L. Marshall; sister, Marian M. Smack; nephew, Junior Jones; and nephew-in-law, Gary Davis, Sr.

Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery, in Onancock, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 3:00 p.m., with The Reverend Bill McClung officiating.

Memory tributes may be shared with the family at www.williamsfuneralhomes.com.

Arrangements by the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home.
