Mr. James Lee "Bub" Powell Jr.

James Lee Powell Jr. “Bub”, 72, husband of Ginny Lewis Powell and a resident Painter, Va. passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at his residence. A native of the Eastern Shore, he was the son of the late James L. Powell Sr. and the late Jean Harris Powell. He is retired from VIMS in Wachapreague, VA, and was a United States Air Force Veteran.

James is survived by his wife, Ginny Lewis Powell, of 52 years, a daughter Amy Hutchinson (Jeff); daughter-in-law Nicole Kennedy (Michael); a sister Patricia Nottingham; a brother Brent Powell (Kendra); four grandchildren, James Lee Powell IV (J.P.), Nicholas Evan Brown, Nicholas Elmore Hutchinson, and Andrew Parks Kennedy; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and Baby girl, his faithful and loving chihuahua. He is predeceased by a son James L. Powell III; and two brothers, E.Trent Powell and Bryan K. Powell.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 3:00PM at Doughty Funeral Home with Pastor Rob Kelly officiating. Interment will follow at Belle Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Eastern Shore SPCA Inc. at P.O. Box 164, Onley, VA 23418.
