Tuesday evening swimming and sports update

The Nandua High School swim teams made a strong statement in their season opener on Tuesday night, securing dominant victories over Cambridge South Dorchester. The girls’ team won handily with a score of 120-42, while the boys triumphed 95-64.

The Nandua girls showcased their depth and skill, claiming several first-place finishes in both relays and individual events. The 200 Medley Relay team of Meya Charnock, Sarah Bentley, Lexi Mae Thornes, and Chloe Bacchi led off the evening with a victory, followed by a win in the 200 Freestyle Relay from Campbell Bays, Maddy Askew, Tanique Bartley, and Jordan Penland. The girls closed out their relay success with a win in the 400 Freestyle Relay, with Charnock, Bentley, Askew, and Bacchi contributing to the team’s strong performance. Individually, Charnock triumphed in the 200 Freestyle, Morgan Johnson won the 200 Individual Medley, and Ashlyn Ebenezer took first in the 100 Butterfly. Maddy Askew claimed victory in the 100 Freestyle, while Sarah Bentley excelled, winning both the 500 Freestyle and the 100 Breaststroke.

Broadwater Academy

The Nandua boys also delivered a solid performance, highlighted by victories in both relay events. The team of Zac Smith, Camden Lewis, Lucas Calvetti, and Austin Wert won the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Freestyle Relay, demonstrating their strength in the team events. Individually, Camden Lewis was a standout, winning both the 50 and 100 Freestyle events. Lucas Calvetti dominated the 100 Butterfly, and Hayden Williams finished first in the 500 Freestyle, rounding out the boys’ individual victories.

Both teams showed their potential for the season ahead, with strong relay performances and a variety of individual standouts. With such a commanding start, the Nandua swim teams are poised for a successful season as they continue to build on this opening win.

Girls Basketball

The Nandua Lady Warriors basketball team traveled to play Holly Grove on Tuesday night. The Lady Warriors lost the game by a score of 38 to 37. The Lady Warriors fall to 2-4 on the season and will return to action on December 27th as they play at Crisfield.
