Team Taylor Bank wins the GOAT House Golf Tournament

The Taylor Bank team of Jeremy Meyer, Adam James, Andrew Haines and Chris Stodghill won a golf tournament Friday, Oct. 25 at the Eastern Shore Yacht & Country Club to benefit The GOAT House Athletics Club. The foursome shot a 51 in a Captain’s Choice format to beat out 16 other teams.

Finishing second with a matching 51 but losing a tiebreaker was the Delmarva Custom Applicators team of John Luthy, Jock Luthy, Jamie Joseph and David Smith.

Dru Marsh won the longest drive contest while Jeremy Buyea was closest to the pin on a par 3 hole.

The GOAT House Athletics club was founded in 2021 with the intention to give the youth of the shore a high level training environment in wrestling and tumbling.

Casey Pagilia, a three-time state wrestling champion while at Northampton High School, leads the organization with support from other area coaches. Paglia said, “We strive to continue to grow every year to provide the youth with more and more opportunities.  The addition of our tumbling program over the past year has been great.  We have served around 70 kids between wrestling and tumbling over the last year, and we strive to continue to provide opportunities for kids of all backgrounds. “

Paglia adds,  “Fundraisers like our golf tournament at the the ESY&CC help us keep our membership fees significantly cheaper than other similar gyms and clubs so that we do not limit the opportunities for low income families.”

Paglia said the club has been very successful in competition. “In wrestling we have traveled all across the East coast competing in the top tournaments around for the last three years.  Our highlights have been having two girl youth state champions, a youth state runner-up and multiple high school state place winners.   We are looking to announce some very exciting news with our tumbling program over the next year or so.”
