Northampton Yellow Jacket wrestling team wins contest for new uniforms

The Northampton High School Yellow Jacket Wrestling team is about to get new uniforms.

Recently the Northampton High School Wrestling team entered an online tournament for a chance to win freeuniforms for the high school team.

The tournament was hosted by “Constant Pressure,” a wrestling gear manufacturer, and consisted of 50 teams from across the country in a bracket format. In each round, Northampton wase matched up with one other team to compete against. The team with the most votes from Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram at the end of the 2 day deadline was the winner of the round and would advance to the next round in the 50 team competition.

Northampton won six rounds in the bracket to win the contest. In the Semi-Finals, they received approximately 2,400 votes and in the Finals we had about 2,100 votes!

“This victory was a total community effort,” said head coach Matt Evans. “Our post asking for community members to place votes from our team Facebook page Northampton Yellow Jacket Wrestling (Virginia) was shared hundreds of times by community members to promote voting. This was such a fun competition and we would like to thank everyone who helped place votes for us to win this competition. It was all because of our tight knit community that we were able to over come 49 other team organizations to win these uniforms!”
