Northampton sweeps District Cross Country Meet at Randy Custis Park

The Northampton Yellow Jackets turned in a dominant showing on their home course Wednesday, capturing both the girls and boys team titles at the District Cross Country Meet held at Randy Custis Park.

Girls Race

The Lady Jackets were nearly perfect, scoring just 15 points and sweeping the top four spots.

Renniah Rono claimed the individual title with a winning time of 24:59.
She was followed closely by teammates Scarlette Gallimore (25:09) and Sophie Tayloe (26:06) to complete a clean 1-2-3 finish.
Savana Ruizvera (27:31) and Mariana Escalante (29:13) rounded out the scoring five.

Northampton’s depth was on full display, with Chloe Bacchi (29:13) and Vanessa Lopez (29:15) also placing in the top 10. Arcadia’s Johana Coj (38:50) and Makiyah Davis (42:03) paced the Firebirds.

Boys Race

In the boys’ 5K, Northampton earned a first-place team finish with 28 points, fending off rival Nandua (38 points).

Kendrick Collins surged to the front and broke the tape in 18:10, securing the individual championship.
Dickinson Tayloe finished third (19:24)
Fernando Palacio (21:15), Juan Palacio (21:50), and Raymundo C. Coya (23:33) added strong scoring runs for the Jackets.
Walker Taylor (22:33) and Jayden Talbott (23:13) turned in solid JV times to cap the team’s depth.

Nandua’s Julio Chavez (18:11) finished just a second behind Collins for runner-up honors, while Chris Lopez-Perez (19:35) kept the Warriors competitive.
