The Northampton boys soccer team delivered a commanding 5-0 victory against Auburn Friday afternoon at Salem High School in the state semifinals.
Thomas Dix opened the scoring with a goal assisted by Manny Montalvo. Ant Castillo added a second goal to extend the lead to 2-0. Martin Montalvo made it 3-0 with help from Sebastian Mayorga, who went on to collect another assist on Luke Jones’ first goal of the match. Jones would later score again, this time assisted by Fernando Palacio, sealing the 5-0 shutout.
In the other semifinal, West Point fell 3-1 to Eastern Montgomery, setting up a title match between Northampton and Eastern Montgomery Saturday morning at 11:30 AM.
