Northampton capped off a dominant postseason run Saturday with a 6-0 victory over Galax to capture its second consecutive Virginia Class 1 State Soccer Championship.
The Yellow Jackets were led by Senior Luke Jones, who scored three goals in the title match. Sebastian Mayorga added a goal, while brothers Eli Philpot and Ellis Philpot each scored once to complete the offensive outburst.
The championship completed an outstanding season for Northampton, which advanced to the final with a 5-1 semifinal victory over Auburn.
The Yellow Jackets dominated throughout the state tournament, outscoring opponents 20-1 over three matches.
Jones finished the tournament with eight goals, including four in the semifinal win over Auburn and three more in the championship match against Galax.
The Championship gives Head Coach Chase Baxa his 3rd State Championship in four years.
