In a game broadcast live on 103.3 FM WESR, the Northampton Yellow Jackets defeated district rival Arcadia 41-6 on Friday night. WESR’s Kenny Walker named Northampton quarterback Brock Leland the Bojangles Player of the Game. Leland completed 5 of 7 passes for 103 yards, including a touchdown pass to Jeremiah White on his senior night. Northampton’s Kaidn Davis finished with 10 rushes for 79 yards and a touchdown, while Jeremiah White carried the ball 3 times for 77 yards and a touchdown. Jerry Sturgis added 5 rushes for 58 yards and a score.
Arcadia’s Nalaki Wilson led the Firebirds’ offense, finishing with 10 rushes for 59 yards and a touchdown, along with one catch for 24 yards.
The Yellow Jackets improved to 7-2 and returns to action next Friday at Nandua. The Firebirds fall to 2-8.
In another game, the Nandua Warriors defeated the Washington Jaguars at home Friday night, 38-18. The Warriors improved to 2-7 on the season and will return to action next Friday as they host Northampton.
The Broadwater Academy fell in the opening round of the VISAA State Playoffs to top-ranked Southampton Academy, losing 60-12.
