
Northampton’s Lady Yellow Jackets volleyball team turned in a dominant performance on the road Tuesday night, sweeping Class 3 opponent I.C. Norcom in Portsmouth. The Jackets won in straight sets, 25-9, 25-15, 25-13.
Senior standout Rylee Coates led the way with an impressive 11 aces, 7 kills, and 4 digs. Fellow senior Abby Zodun added 7 aces, 7 assists, and a kill to the effort, while junior Dani Fonseca chipped in 5 aces, 3 assists, and a dig.
Jade Collins, another senior leader, recorded 4 aces, 6 kills, and a dig, while freshman Brelyn Coates contributed 4 aces, a kill, and 2 digs in the win. Senior Hailey Dinwiddie rounded out the balanced attack with 3 kills.
The Chincoteague Lady Ponies fell on the road Wednesday night, dropping a 3–1 decision to Holly Grove.
Despite the loss, several players turned in strong efforts. Carmela Rosanova led the way with 14 service points and 5 aces, adding 1 kill and 2 blocks. Julia Dustin recorded 5 service points to go along with 4 kills and 3 blocks. Ginny Sawyer chipped in 3 aces and 2 kills, while Marley Kinard added 4 aces, 3 kills, and 2 blocks.
\Chincoteague drops to 0-3 on the season. The Lady Ponies will look to regroup when they travel to Delmar for their next match on Tuesday.
