The Northampton Yellow Jackets advanced to the semifinals of the VHSL Class 1 State Soccer Tournament with a dominant 9-0 victory over Luray in the quarterfinals on their home field Tuesday night.
Leading the offensive attack was Sebastian Mayorga with three goals. Marcos Tinoco added two goals, while Luke Jones, Ellis Philpot, Adrian Rosales, and Soniel Hernandez each found the back of the net once.
With the win, Northampton moves on to face Auburn, which enters the match with a 19-2-2 record. The semifinal contest will be played at Glenvar High School in Roanoke on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
