1A Regional Finals
The Northampton Yellow Jackets boys soccer team hosted West Point in the Region 1A final and came away with a 6-2 victory. Luke Jones led the offense with a hat trick, scoring three goals. Sebastian Mayorga added a goal and an assist, Thomas Dix contributed a goal and an assist, and Manny Montalvo also found the back of the net. Adrian Rosales Reyes and John Ramos Yenez each tallied an assist.
With the win, the Yellow Jackets advance to the VHSL Class 1 state quarterfinals, where they will host either Appomattox Regional Governor’s School or Altavista on Tuesday.
2A Regional Finals
The Nandua Warriors boys soccer team traveled to Bruton for the Region 2A final. After a 1-1 draw in regulation, the Warriors clinched the regional title with a win in penalty kicks. Daniel Rodriguez scored Nandua’s lone goal in regulation.
The Warriors will now host Clarke County, the Region 2B runner-up, in the VHSL Class 2 state quarterfinals on Tuesday.
