Nandua Wrestling Regional Runner-Ups

The Nandua High School wrestling team delivered a strong performance at the regional championship, earning second place with 180.5 points, finishing behind Poquoson (332.5). The Warriors impressive showing was fueled by a mix of experienced and up-and-coming wrestlers, with five individuals qualifying for the state tournament.

Top Individual Performances & State Qualifiers

• 120 lbs: Dylan Padgett 2nd place (State Qualifier)
• 126 lbs: Arnoldson Destine 1st place (Regional Champion & State Qualifier)
• 144 lbs: Grayson Ford 3rd place (State Qualifier)
• 165 lbs: Roque Vicente-Gomez 2nd place (State Qualifier)
• 175 lbs: Roldan Roblero-Romero 3rd place (State Qualifier)

Arnoldson Destine highlighted the tournament for Nandua, claiming the regional championship in the 126-pound weight class, while Padgett and Vicente-Gomez fought their way to runner-up finishes. Ford and Roblero-Romero also battled through tough brackets to secure third-place finishes and their tickets to the state tournament.

Despite facing powerhouse Poquoson, Nandua’s depth and determination helped them outscore tough competition, including King William (154.5) and Randolph-Henry (147). The teams ability to secure five state qualifiers speaks to the programs growth and competitive edge.

Nandua’s state-bound wrestlers will now prepare to take on Virginia’s best on February 21st and 22nd at the Salem Civic Center.

Arcadia also competed this weekend and had several wrestlers place. Jacob Delgado took 4th place, earning him an alternate spot for the State Tournament. Nathan Godwin finished 5th and Bradley LaParra & Alexander Taylor placed 6th.
