
Nandua High School’s swim team showcased an outstanding performance at the Bruton Tricorn Splash Invitational on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the RF Wilkinson YMCA in Williamsburg, Virginia. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams secured first-place finishes, with the girls earning 351 points and the boys tallying 345 points. Bruton took second place in both divisions, while Northumberland finished third for the girls, and Middlesex rounded out the top three for the boys.
Several Nandua swimmers delivered standout performances, with Austin Wert finishing second in the 50-yard freestyle and first in the 100-yard freestyle. Lucas Calvetti dominated his events, securing first place in both the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly, while Camden Lewis claimed victories in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard backstroke. Zac Smith earned second-place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke, and Liam Stern won the 500-yard freestyle while placing third in the 100-yard backstroke. On the girls’ side, Chloe Bacchi took first in the 200-yard freestyle and placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke. Morgan Johnson earned second in the 200-yard individual medley, while Meya Charnoch finished third in both the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke. Sarah Bentley contributed with a third-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle and a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, while Hayden Williams also placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Nandua excelled in the relay events as well, with the boys winning both the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay. The girls’ team secured second place in the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay while finishing third in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
The team now looks ahead to its next meet, a home competition set for Friday, February 7, at the Eastern Shore Family YMCA.
