The Nandua High School swim team delivered an outstanding performance at the State Championships, with both the boys’ and girls’ teams placing 4th out of 28 teams. This marks the highest finish in program history for the boys’ team, solidifying their place among the state’s top competitors.
A total of 17 swimmers represented Nandua at the meet, with several athletes achieving top-16 finishes, earning crucial points for the team. The boys’ 200-yard medley relay team of Zac Smith, Camden Lewis, Lucas Calvetti, and Austin Wert secured 4th place, while the girls’ medley relay team of Meya Charnock, Sarah Bentley, Lexi-Mae Thornes, and Chloe Bacchi placed 5th. The 200-yard freestyle relay teams also excelled, with the boys taking 3rd place and the girls finishing 5th. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the boys’ team placed 8th and the girls’ team finished 10th.
Several swimmers earned top individual finishes, with Sarah Bentley leading the way by placing 3rd in the 200 Individual Medley and 2nd in the 100 Breaststroke, earning her a spot on the All-State Team. Other notable finishes included Meya Charnock (8th in the 200 Free, 7th in the 500 Free), Parker Shotwell (7th in the 200 IM, 12th in the 100 Back), Austin Wert (8th in the 50 Free, 5th in the 100 Free), and Camden Lewis (6th in the 200 Free, 4th in the 500 Free).
The All-State Team featured Sarah Bentley for the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke, along with the boys’ 200-yard freestyle relay team of Zac Smith, Camden Lewis, Lucas Calvetti, and Austin Wert.
Additionally, several school records were shattered at the championship meet. Sarah Bentley set new Nandua records in the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke, while Camden Lewis broke records in the 200 Free and 500 Free. Lucas Calvetti set a new school record in the 100-yard Butterfly, and the boys’ relay team of Zac Smith, Camden Lewis, Lucas Calvetti, and Austin Wert set records in both the 200-yard Free Relay and 200-yard Medley Relay.
