Nandua sweeps Salisbury Christian, Northampton falls to Matthews in Wednesday baseball and softball

Softball

The Nandua Lady Warriors softball team traveled to play Salisbury Christian on Wednesday and came away with a 14–6 victory. Kylie Killmon started on the mound and earned the win, pitching six innings and allowing six runs on six hits while striking out five.

Offensively, the Lady Warriors tallied 14 hits. Corrin Burrell went 2-for-5 with a triple, Amirrah Church went 2-for-2, Peyton Truckner went 2-for-3, and Tracey Selby went 2-for-4 with a double.

The Lady Warriors improved to 3–3 on the season and will return to action on Friday when they host Greenbrier Christian.

The Northampton Lady Yellow Jackets traveled to Mathews on Wednesday and fell by a score of 20–2. Anna Temich got the start on the mound and took the loss.

Northampton recorded two hits in the game, with Ryleigh Caison and Ortavia Rogers each contributing one.

The Lady Yellow Jackets drop to 1–6 on the season and will host Franklin on Thursday.

Baseball

The Nandua Warriors baseball team defeated Salisbury Christian 15–3 on Wednesday. Hayden Williams started and earned the win, pitching 5 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on five hits, and striking out 10.

Nandua collected 14 hits in the game. Aiden McIntyre went 3-for-5 with a grand slam and a double, Greg Lessard went 3-for-3, and Braeden Smith went 2-for-4 with a double.

The Warriors improved to 5–4 on the season and will return to action on Thursday when they host Windsor.

The Northampton Yellow Jackets fell to Mathews by a score of 12–6 on Wednesday. Brock Leland started on the mound and took the loss, pitching 2 1/3 innings, allowing nine runs on five hits, and striking out one.

Offensively, the Yellow Jackets recorded 11 hits. Leland went 2-for-3, Porter Spence went 2-for-4, and Jason Kim went 2-for-3 to lead the team.

Northampton falls to 1–6 on the season and will host Franklin on Thursday.
