A four-year starter for Nandua High School’s soccer team has earned a scholarship to play college soccer next year.
Griffin Serio, the son of Sam Serio of Melfa and Tami Serio of Onley, will play for Paul D. Camp Community College’s soccer team.
The college has campuses in Franklin, Suffolk and Smithfield. Its first-ever soccer team begins play Aug. 24.
In addition to being a standout for Coach Paul Nolz’s soccer teams at Nandua, Serio participated on the Nandua cross country and track teams.
Serio also has been a contributor to Nolz’s annual soccer camps and earned high praise from his coach for his skill and talent.
Serio becomes at least the second Eastern Shore student-athlete to play collegiately at Paul D. Camp Community College.
Seth Konkel, the son of John and Laurie Konkel of Exmore, was a two-year standout for the college’s baseball team.
Konkel will play baseball next year at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn.
