Boys Soccer
The Northampton Yellow Jackets boys soccer team hosted Mathews on Tuesday night and cruised to an 8-0 victory. Luke Jones led the scoring with four goals, while Sebastian Mayorga tallied two goals and three assists. Martin Montalvo and Manny Montalvo each added a goal, with Manny also recording an assist. The win advances Northampton to the Region 1A final and clinches a berth in the VHSL Class 1 State Tournament. The Yellow Jackets will host the winner of West Point and Rappahannock on Thursday in the regional championship.
The Nandua Warriors boys soccer team hosted Poquoson on Tuesday night and came away with a 2-1 victory. Kevin Tinoco and Daniel Rodriguez each scored for the Warriors, with assists provided by Alex Plowden and Roldan Roblero. The win advances Nandua to the Region 2A final and secures a berth in the VHSL Class 2 State Tournament. The Warriors will travel to Bruton on Thursday to compete in the regional championship game.
