Nandua, Chincoteague Baseball and Softball teams split wins in midweek matchups

Baseball

The Nandua Warriors baseball team traveled to Holly Grove on Wednesday afternoon and came away with an 18–2 win. Braeden Smith got the start on the mound and earned the win, pitching three innings and allowing no runs on two hits while striking out four batters.

Offensively, the Warriors had four hits and drew 14 walks. Hayden Williams went 1-for-1 with a grand slam and five RBIs. Austin Wert, Braeden Smith, and Jordan Snead each added a hit.

Preston Ford in Keller

The Warriors improve to 4–2 on the season and will return to action Thursday as they travel to play Windsor.

The Chincoteague Ponies baseball team hosted Salisbury Christian on Wednesday afternoon and won by a score of 3–2. Kent Reed started on the mound and earned the win, pitching a complete game and giving up two unearned runs on five hits while striking out 13 batters.

The Ponies recorded four hits in the game. Kent Reed went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Micah Bennicoff and Brady Roberts each added a hit.

The Ponies improve to 3–2–1 on the season and will return to action Thursday as they travel to Broadwater.

Softball

The Chincoteague Lady Ponies softball team hosted Salisbury Christian on Wednesday and won by a score of 16–5. F. Stadler started on the mound and earned the win, pitching four innings and allowing five runs (one earned) on five hits while striking out 11 batters.

Offensively, the Lady Ponies had four hits in the game. Ginny Sawyer went 1-for-2 with a triple. Rylee Giddings, Sophie Littleton, and Dynasty Wallop each added a hit.

The Lady Ponies improve to 3–3 on the season and will return to action Thursday as they travel to play Broadwater.

Buchanan Subaru

The Nandua Lady Warriors traveled to Holly Grove on Wednesday afternoon and lost a close game, 14–13. Kylie Killmon started on the mound and took the loss, pitching 6 2/3 innings and striking out eight batters.

Offensively, the Lady Warriors collected 17 hits. Killmon went 4-for-4 with two doubles, while Amirrah Church went 4-for-5 with a double.

The Lady Warriors fall to 2–3 on the season and will return to action Friday as they travel to Seaford.
