Baseball
The Nandua Warriors baseball team hosted the Chincoteague Ponies on Tuesday afternoon and won in dramatic fashion, 4-3, on a walk-off hit by Cody Ragone in the bottom of the seventh inning. Hayden Williams got the start for the Warriors, pitching three innings and allowing three runs on six hits while striking out seven. Aiden McIntyre came on in relief, pitching four scoreless innings, giving up one hit, and striking out seven to earn the win. Kent Reed started for the Ponies, going 5 1/3 innings and allowing three runs on three hits with 11 strikeouts. Landon Easton took the loss in relief.
The Warriors managed just four hits in the game. Cody Ragone went 1-for-3 with a double and the game-winning RBI. Jordan Snead was 1-for-3 with a double, Braeden Smith went 1-for-1 with three RBIs, and Austin Wert also had a hit. The Ponies collected seven hits. Micah Bennicoff went 2-for-4, while Garrett Daisey was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. George Katsetos, Brady Roberts, Owen Bloxom, and Landon Easton each added a hit.
The Warriors improve to 10-7 on the season; the Ponies fall to 7-11-1.
Softball
The Chincoteague Lady Ponies traveled to Nandua on Tuesday afternoon and defeated the Lady Warriors by a score of 20-3. Caitlyn McPherson earned the win, pitching four innings and allowing two runs (none earned) on one hit while striking out three. Kylie Killmon took the loss for Nandua.
Offensively, the Lady Ponies racked up 13 hits. Julia Duston went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Ginny Sawyer was 2-for-3, Carmela Rosanova went 2-for-3 with two doubles, and Dynasty Wallop added a 2-for-3 performance with three RBIs. The Lady Warriors had three hits in the game, with Kylie Killmon going 2-for-3 and Peyton Truckner 1-for-2.
The Lady Ponies improve to 11-8 on the season, while the Lady Warriors fall to 5-10.
Girls Soccer
Northampton defeated Nandua 2-0.
