Nandua, Arcadia, Chincoteague, and Broadwater score big in Thursday baseball and softball action; Northampton Girls dominate in soccer

Baseball

The Nandua Warriors baseball team traveled to play the Chincoteague Ponies on Thursday afternoon and won by a score of 1–0. Aiden McIntyre pitched a complete game, allowing just one hit while striking out 16 batters. Landon Easton started on the mound for the Ponies and took the loss, giving up one run on four hits while striking out four.

Offensively, the Warriors recorded four hits. McIntyre hit a solo home run for the game’s only run. Austin Wert went 2-for-3. Garrett Daisy had the lone hit for the Ponies.

The Warriors improve to 7–6 on the season and will return to action on Tuesday when they host Arcadia. The Ponies fall to 5–8–1 and will travel to Northampton on Tuesday.

The Arcadia Firebirds hosted the Northampton Yellow Jackets on Thursday afternoon and secured an 11–0 victory. Dylan Chesser started on the mound and earned the win, pitching five innings, allowing four hits, and striking out seven. Lucas Kindt started for the Yellow Jackets and took the loss.

The Firebirds had four hits in the game. Chesser went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Josh Woolford also went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. The Yellow Jackets matched the Firebirds in hits, with contributions from Kindt, Brock Leland, Trent Ferebee, and Porter Spence.

Arcadia improves to 6–6 and will travel to play Broadwater on Friday. Northampton falls to 1–9 and will host Chincoteague on Tuesday.

Softball

The Broadwater Lady Vikings hosted Hampton Christian on Thursday afternoon in a doubleheader. The Lady Vikings swept both games, winning 11–0 and 10–1. Ramsey Revelle started on the mound and earned the win in both games.

Offensively, the Lady Vikings collected 13 hits in the first game and 10 in the second. Adrianna Holloway went 4-for-6 with two home runs across the two games. Kasey Ford went 3-for-6 with a double, and Elana Hickman went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.

Broadwater improves to 16–2 on the season and will host Arcadia on Friday.

Buchanan Subaru

The Arcadia Lady Firebirds hosted the Northampton Yellow Jackets on Thursday and won 16–0. Brinlee Kauthen started on the mound and earned the win, giving up two hits and striking out 10 batters in five innings. Anna Temich started for the Yellow Jackets and took the loss.

Arcadia had 13 hits in the game. Ryann Giddins went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Peyton Taylor went 3-for-4 with a double and a home run. Kauthen also contributed at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a triple. Ryleigh Caison led the Yellow Jackets with a double.

The Lady Firebirds improve to 6–6 and will travel to Broadwater on Friday. The Yellow Jackets fall to 3–9 and will host Chincoteague on Tuesday.

The Chincoteague Lady Ponies hosted the Nandua Warriors on Thursday afternoon and earned a 13–1 win. Caitlyn McPherson started on the mound and earned the win, allowing one run on six hits while striking out 10 batters. Kylie Killmon took the loss for the Warriors.

Chincoteague had six hits in the game. C. Rosanova went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. C. Britton went 1-for-2 with two RBIs. For Nandua, Amirrah Church went 3-for-3 with a double.

The Lady Ponies improve to 7–6 and will travel to Northampton on Tuesday. The Lady Warriors fall to 4–6 and will host Arcadia.

Soccer

The Northampton varsity girls soccer team defeated Arcadia 5–0 on Wednesday evening. Lizeth Panuco led the way with four goals and one assist. The team is now 3–5 overall and 1–1 in district play.

The Northampton JV girls soccer team also beat Arcadia, 6–0. Eighth grader Breylan Coates scored three goals, and fellow eighth grader Kylie Vergara added two. The JV team improves to 3–0–1 on the season and currently holds first place in the district.
