Hampden-Sydney College senior wide receiver Major Morgan/Onancock has been named the 2019 Touchdown Club of Richmond State Small College Receiver/End of the Year. It’s the second consecutive year that Morgan has earned the award as the top receiver in Virginia for NCAA Division II, III, NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA.
Morgan, a team captain, started all 10 games this season and led the Tigers and the ODAC in receptions with 74, totaling 886 receiving yards and one touchdown. He also led the conference in receptions per game (7.4), while fourth in yards and receiving yards per game (88.6), and 11th in receiving average (12.0). Morgan is tied for 16th in Division III receptions per game. He had a career-high 14 receptions for a game-high 165 yards against Shenandoah (10/19)—the 14 receptions tying for the fifth-most in a single game. A First Team All-ODAC selection this year and three-time All-ODAC honoree, Major concluded his outstanding four-year career with 232 receptions for 3,084 receiving yards and 26 touchdowns in 38 games (33 starts) to rank fourth in career receptions and receiving yards, and fifth in receiving touchdowns at H-SC.
Morgan will be among 14 collegiate players honored at the annual Dudley & Lanier Awards Banquet on Sunday, December 15, at the Hilton Richmond Hotel.
