The Arcadia Firebirds emerged victorious at Homecoming Friday night against the Washington Jaguars after Zachary Giddens punched a 2 yard touchdown run with 30 seconds left in the game to win 20-14.
Giddens run was the capstone of a 55 yard, 5 minute drive that sealed the game. He ended with 19 rushes for 107 yards and a touchdown, and was named WESR’s Bojangles Player of the game.
Ryheim Petit was 7 for 14 passing for 130 yards and a touchdown pass to Jordan Cropper. Petit also added a two yard touchdown run for the Firebirds.
The Chincoteague Ponies football team traveled to play Greenbrier Christian on Friday night. The Ponies lost by a score of 54-20. They fall to 2-7 on the season and return to action on 10/25 as they host Christ Church.
The Nandua Warriors football team fell on the road against Wight Academy on Friday 20-0. The Warriors fall to 0-6 on the season and will to action next Thursday as they travel to Colonel Richardson.
