Coastline Chemical wins 2024 Shore Fest Golf Tournament

The Shorefest 2024 Golf Tournament was held at the Eastern Shore Yacht and Country Club Aug. 23 amid ideal weather conditions with a field of 16 teams competing in the event. The tournament is planned and run by the Eastern Shore of Virginia Chamber of Commerce with a portion of the proceeds donated to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital for nursing scholarships.

Robert Sabbatini, executive director of  the chamber, said the turnout for the tournament was fantastic, adding the support of local sponsors helped to make the tournament a financial success. Sabbatini, assisted by executive assistant Sandra Johnson, presented numerous prizes and  announced the winners at the awards dinner held in the clubhouse dining room.

Winning the first flight in the tournament with a 55, using a captain’s choice format, was the Coastline Chemical team of Jonathan Sharpley, Eric Breithut, Jim Lohr and J.P. Lacey. The Custom Carts foursome of Will Russell, Adair Tyler, Jay Daughtery and Bill Tom Custis finished second in the first flight with a 58. Third place with a 58, based on a tiebreaker, was a second Coastline Chemical sponsored team of John Sharpley, Jay Tapman, Greg Butler and Chris Beebe.

The second flight winner with a 65, based on a tiebreaker, was the Thornton Services team of Kenneth Thornton, C.W. Savage, Jamie Woods and Chip White. Finishing second in the second flight with a 65 was the Coastal Homes team of Harry Parker, Jake Parker, Matt Parker and Dale Smith. Also with a 65 was the third place foursome of a second Thornton Services team, Norman Thornton, Ricky Thornton, Jim Wells and Ryan Hannigan.

The longest drive award for the men went to Randy Davis with Tiffany Bloom winning the women’s division. Jim Lohr won the closest to the pin on hole 13 with a shot nine feet, seven inches from the pin.
