The Chincoteague Ponies softball team came from 4 down in the bottom of the 7th inning to defeat the Arcadia Lady Firebirds by a score of 13 to 12.
With the Ponies down by a score of 12-8 in the bottom of the 7th, the Lady Ponies sent 7 batters up to the plate and scored 5 runs to win the game. The game ended in walk off fashion as Allie Bell hit a two run single to win the game.
The winning pitcher for the Ponies was Alex McComb who pitched 7 innings giving up 12 runs on 17 hits with 1 walk and 10 strikeouts.
The losing pitcher for the Firebirds S. Jester. She pitched 5 innings giving up 5 runs on 7 hits while walking 5 batters and striking out 4. She relieved Hayley Berry who pitched 1 inning while giving up 8 runs on 4 hits while striking out 2 batters.
Allie Bell led the Ponies with 2 hits and 4 RBIs. Alex McComb, Emma Jackson, and Sara Godwin also had 2 hits each.
Haley McDaniel and Haylie Berry lead the Firebirds with 3 hits each.
The Ponies now moved to 2-1 on the season and the Firebirds moved to 2-1 on the season with the loss.
