
The Central Accomack softball team is headed to the state tournament after capturing the District 8 championship in thrilling fashion this past weekend.
After dropping their opening game to North Accomack on Saturday by a narrow 9–8 score, Central showed resilience and grit, rallying back with two impressive wins on Sunday. They edged out North Accomack 5–4 in the first game and sealed the championship with a 6–5 victory in the deciding matchup.
With the title in hand, Central Accomack now advances to the state tournament, which will be held on June 27th in Alexandria.
Team members include Ava Webb, Brynna Travis, Elizabeth Russell, Emma Smith, Hayden Cornish, Hayden Parks, Jazzya Zavala, Josie Vasquenza, Kaylee Hope, Lily Truckner, McKenna Rhatigan, and Miranda Harrell. The team is led by coaches Baron Justice, Kelly Webb, and Stewart Annis.
