The Central Accomack Senior Girls won the State Championship on Tuesday afternoon, which was held in Portsmouth at Olive Branch Little League. The CALL team went through pool play undefeated, going 3-0. They defeated Olive Branch Little League in game 1 on Saturday by a score of 5 to 0, defeated South County 17-6 in game 2 on Sunday, and defeated Clinch River 13-0 in game 3 on Monday.
On Tuesday, the CALL team played Warren County in the semi-final game and defeated them by a score of 6 to 2. The CALL team then defeated York County in the championship game by a score of 9 to 1.
The team batted .331 as a team in the state tournament and scored 50 runs. The CALL pitchers only gave up 9 runs, 7 earned, on 18 hits and struck out 48 batters in the tournament.
The CALL team will return to action and play in the Southeast tournament beginning on July 19th-22nd in Salisbury, North Carolina.
Team members are Adrianna Holloway, Ammirrah Church, Briana Zavala, Carly Clayton, Cassidy Hickman, Emmalee Blake, Kacey Ford, Kate McPherson, Kylie Bennett, Payton Taylor, Ramsey Revelle, Ryann Giddins, and Rylee Huttner. Coaches are Bruce Clayton, Greg Ford, Trae Revelle.
