Eastern Shore product Brendon Burrows was awarded the Capital Athletic Conference Men’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards after he starred for the Christopher Newport track & field teams on Saturday at the Blue & Silver Challenge.

The weekly honors are the second career awards for Burrows.

Starring in the throws on Saturday, Burrows won a pair of events and established a new school record. In the discus, the senior launched a 50.81-meter toss. With that effort, he became the first Captain to eclipse the 50-meter plateau while breaking the previous CNU standard of 49.74 meters, which was set by Legend Hayes in 2017. His toss also ranks third in the NCAA this year and first in the CAC and South / Southeast Region.

Along with his starring role in the discus, Burrows also claimed the title in the shot put with a 15.39-meter effort. That ranks third in school history and 13th in the NCAA this year.
