Softball
The Broadwater Lady Vikings hosted Isle of Wight Academy on Monday afternoon and earned a 7-0 shutout victory. Ramsey Revelle went the distance on the mound, pitching 7 innings, allowing 6 hits, and striking out 6. Offensively, the Lady Vikings totaled 11 hits. Ava Webb went 3-for-3, Kasey Ford went 2-for-4 with a triple, Revelle added a 2-for-4 performance with a double, and Neiley Guinan went 2-for-3. Broadwater improves to 9-1 and will host Stonebridge for a doubleheader on Tuesday.
The Northampton Lady Yellow Jackets picked up their first win of the season with an 18-2 victory over King & Queen. Anna Temic earned the win, allowing 6 hits and striking out 6. The Yellow Jackets tallied 8 hits, led by Ryleigh Caison, who went 3-for-4 with a triple, and Kelsey Hern, who went 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs. Northampton is now 1-5 and will travel to Mathews next Wednesday.
The Chincoteague Lady Ponies shut out Snow Hill 10-0 on Monday. Caitlyn McPherson pitched 5 shutout innings, giving up 3 hits and striking out 9. Offensively, the Ponies collected 13 hits. Meredith Wright went 4-for-4 with a double, Julia Duston went 3-for-3 with a triple, and Anslyn Greenwood added a 3-for-3 performance. The Lady Ponies improve to 4-4 and will host Holly Grove Christian next Wednesday.
Baseball
The Broadwater Vikings fell to Isle of Wight Academy 4-1 at home. Eli Destro took the loss despite a strong outing, pitching 6 1/3 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, and striking out 7. The Vikings were limited to 4 hits, with Bennit Custis going 2-for-3. Chris Ames and Destro each added a double. Broadwater drops to 5-5-1 and will host Stonebridge in a doubleheader Tuesday.
The Chincoteague Ponies suffered a 10-0 shutout loss to Snow Hill. Kent Reed started on the mound with no decision, and T. Jillard took the loss in relief. The Ponies managed just 2 hits, one each by Bryce Luck and Reed, with Reed’s hit being a double. Chincoteague falls to 3-4-1 and will host Holly Grove Christian next Wednesday.
