Arcadia, Chincoteague, and Nandua Dominate on the Diamond as Regular Season Winds Down

The Arcadia Lady Firebirds softball team traveled to play the Nandua Lady Warriors on Thursday afternoon. The Lady Firebirds won the game by a score of 10 to 0. Ryann Giddins got the start on the mound and earned the win, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out nine batters. Kylie Killmon started for the Lady Warriors and took the loss.

Offensively, the Lady Firebirds recorded eight hits. Brinlee Kauthen went 4-for-4 with two triples and three RBIs. Ryann Giddins added a triple, while Peyton Taylor, Kaylee Sheaves, and Chloe Donovan each had a hit. Killmon and Jazzla West both had hits for Nandua.

Arcadia improves to 11-7 on the season and will return to action Monday at Northampton. The Lady Warriors fall to 5-9 and will host Chincoteague on Tuesday.

The Chincoteague Lady Ponies hosted the Northampton Lady Yellow Jackets on Thursday afternoon, winning 18 to 2. Caitlyn McPherson pitched three innings, giving up two runs on five hits and striking out seven to earn the win. Anna Temich took the loss for Northampton.

The Lady Ponies had 15 hits in the game. Meredith Wright went 4-for-4 with a double; Ginny Sawyer and Carmela Rosanova each went 2-for-3 with doubles, with Rosanova driving in five runs. Faith Stadler and Alyson Clark also went 2-for-3. Northampton collected six hits, led by Hailey Dinwiddie (2-for-3) and Ryleigh Caison, who went 1-for-3 with a home run.

Chincoteague improves to 10-8 and will visit Nandua on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets fall to 3-13 and will host Arcadia on Monday.

Baseball

The Nandua Warriors baseball team traveled to play the Arcadia Firebirds on Thursday afternoon and came away with a 12 to 4 victory. Aiden McIntyre started for the Warriors and earned the win, giving up four runs (two earned) on four hits while striking out 18 batters. Dalton Barnes took the loss for Arcadia.

Nandua tallied nine hits. McIntyre went 2-for-3 with two home runs and six RBIs. Jordan Snead added a 3-for-4 performance with a home run and three RBIs. Braeden Smith and Grayson Ford each went 2-for-3. For the Firebirds, Barnes went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, BJ White went 1-for-2, and Vashawn Johnson hit a solo home run.

The Warriors improve to 9-7 and will host Chincoteague on Tuesday. Arcadia falls to 9-8 and will host Salisbury Christian on Friday.

The Chincoteague Ponies baseball team hosted the Northampton Yellow Jackets on Thursday afternoon and won by a score of 14 to 4. Kent Reed pitched six innings for the win, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits while striking out 10. Riley Carpenter took the loss for Northampton.

The Ponies recorded 16 hits. Reed went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Bryce Luck, Micah Bennicoff, Jermaine Logan, George Katsetos, Owen Bloxom, and Landon Easton all went 2-for-4. Lucas Kindt led Northampton, going 3-for-3.

Chincoteague improves to 7-10-1 and will travel to Nandua on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets fall to 1-13 and will host Arcadia on Monday.
