Arcadia and Chincoteague sweep Tuesday baseball and softball matchups; Nandua and Northampton struggle

Softball

The Arcadia Lady Firebirds softball team traveled to play Nandua on Tuesday afternoon and came away with a 15–1 win. Ryann Giddins got the start on the mound and earned the victory for Arcadia, pitching five innings while allowing one run on one hit and striking out 13 batters. Kylie Killmon started for the Lady Warriors and took the loss.

Offensively, the Lady Firebirds collected 11 hits. Giddins went 3-for-4, Brinlee Kauthen went 3-for-4 with five RBIs and a triple, and Megan Montross went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a double. Amirrah Church recorded the only hit for Nandua.

Arcadia improves to 7–7 on the season and will host Holly Grove on Wednesday. Nandua falls to 4–7 and will host Northampton on Thursday.

The Chincoteague Lady Ponies softball team traveled to face Northampton on Tuesday afternoon and won 15–1. Caitlyn McPherson got the start and the win, pitching five innings and giving up one run on one hit while striking out 11 batters. Anna Temich started for the Lady Yellow Jackets and took the loss.

Chincoteague had 11 hits in the game. Ginny Sawyer went 2-for-2, McPherson went 2-for-3 with a double, Julia Duston went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Alyson Clark went 2-for-2. Hailey Dinwiddie had the lone hit for Northampton.

The Lady Ponies improve to 9–7 and will host Arcadia on Thursday. Northampton drops to 3–10 and will travel to Nandua on Thursday.

Baseball

The Arcadia Firebirds baseball team traveled to Nandua on Tuesday afternoon and earned a 5–3 victory. Dalton Barnes started on the mound and picked up the win, pitching 5 1/3 innings and allowing two runs on one hit while striking out 10. BJ White pitched the final 1 2/3 innings in relief, giving up one run on two hits and striking out four. Aiden McIntyre started for the Warriors and took the loss, pitching 6 2/3 innings and allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits while striking out 17 batters.

Arcadia totaled four hits. Dylan Chesser went 2-for-4 with two doubles, White went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, and Barnes added a two-run homer, going 1-for-3. Nandua had three hits: Greg Lessard went 1-for-2 with a triple, McIntyre went 1-for-4, and Kaden Adamos added a single, going 1-for-3.

The Firebirds improve to 8–7 and will travel to Chincoteague on Thursday. Nandua falls to 7–7 and will host Northampton on Thursday.

Buchanan Subaru

The Chincoteague Ponies baseball team traveled to Northampton on Tuesday afternoon and posted a 4–0 shutout victory. Kent Reed pitched a complete-game win, allowing only two hits and striking out eight batters. Trent Ferebee started for the Yellow Jackets and received a no-decision, while Brayden Downing pitched in relief and took the loss.

Chincoteague recorded eight hits. Reed went 2-for-4, Micah Benninoff went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Jermaine Logan went 2-for-3 with a double. Lucas Kindt went 1-for-3, and Riley Carpenter also had a hit.

The Ponies improve to 6–9–1 and will host Arcadia on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets fall to 1–10 and will travel to Nandua on Thursday.
