OPINION: Bounce back in eagle population reason for osprey decline

In reference to the article about the decline of the Ospreys in the area, I and many others know exactly what it is.

IT’S THE EAGLES STUPID.

You don’t reintroduce and protect a Top Predator Species into an ecosystem and expect any less. I’ve witnessed a huge male bald eagle take the head off a male osprey, on a pole beside my dock on Occohannock creek, taking out most of its neat in the process.

I’ve witnessed them striking and taking fish from Ospreys on Nandua creek, and recently watched one run a female with babies off her nest, to swing around, kill the babies, and destroy the nest. So there’s the problem, if a Multi Million Dollar study needed to be done, there it is, send me a check.
