Dear Editor,
There have been many articles about a crash that happened on May 15th a little after 10am with 11 students and 2 adults on the bus. As an aide on this bus, I am here to say that this driver is one of the BEST drivers I have ever seen! She is also one of the safest and most courteous drivers out there. She doesn’t speed and doesn’t follow too closely. She even pulls over whenever possible, if there is a line of drivers, because she understands that they need to be somewhere. She especially LOVES her students! She greets them with a “Good Morning” and a smile and tells them to have a good day at school every day!! She asks them how their day was and rewards them with stickers and treats on holidays, even treats for their dogs! Every parent that I have talked to, absolutely loves her and still trusts her as a bus driver! This incident was nothing more than a pure accident and it is a shame that this beloved bus driver has been publicly shamed the way that she has!! People should not assume they know what happened when they were not there or just from simple facts in an article. This was nothing more than bad timing. She did not intend to get in an accident and she would never put her students in any danger! People need to take a step back and try to think about how they would feel if this happened to them. Accidents happen every day. This wasn’t the first one and won’t be the last, but I can tell you that I felt safer knowing that she was driving!!
With Warmest Regards,
Sandy Lowrey
Bus Aide
