Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has signed an Executive Order aimed at ensuring election protection measures for the November General Election.
“Every legal vote deserves to be counted without being watered down by illegal votes or inaccurate machines. In Virginia, we don’t play games and our model for election security is working,” said Youngkin.
The plan includes:
- 100% use of paper ballots
- use of paper ballot counting machines, not voting machines
- Strict chain of custody for ballots with daily reconciliation during early voting
- Application required to receive a mail ballot – no mass mailing of ballots
- counting machines tested prior to every election
- Counting machines not connected to the internet
- 24/7 monitoring of ballot drop boxes
Youngkin’s order says his administration has removed more than 80,000 deceased voters and 6,000 non-resident voters from Virginia’s voter rolls.
The order also codifies new procedures for non-citizens who attempt to violate the law and register to vote, which includes referral to the local commonwealth’s attorney and the Office of Attorney General for potential prosecution.
“Virginia elections should be decided by Virginians,” the Governor said about the order on a recent television appearance on Fox News. “Elections need to be trusted by voters.”
