Governor Glenn Youngkin on Thursday announced the launch of the Made in Virginia Investment Accelerator (MVIA), a new statewide initiative aimed at expediting high-impact business investments in Virginia through streamlined interagency coordination.

The MVIA program is supported by the Office of the Governor, the Secretary of Commerce and Trade, and the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP). It is designed to provide coordinated assistance to businesses investing in Virginia, particularly those proposing large-scale projects involving at least 500 new jobs and $250 million or more in capital investment.

Participating agencies and partners include the Virginia Department of Transportation, the Port of Virginia, Virginia Energy, the Department of Environmental Quality, the Department of Health, Virginia Works, the Department of Housing and Community Development, and Virginia Housing. The initiative will provide companies with access to state leadership and facilitate efficient permitting and site development processes.

According to VEDP, the MVIA offers a unified approach to economic development, aimed at reducing delays and consolidating state resources to better serve relocating or expanding businesses.

Since the beginning of Governor Youngkin’s administration, Virginia has received over $100 billion in investments and added 260,000 jobs. State officials say recent regulatory changes have reduced permitting timelines and associated costs, and the Virginia Business Ready Sites Program has allocated over $300 million to prepare development-ready sites.

Additional information and investor inquiries regarding MVIA can be directed to the Office of the Secretary of Commerce and Trade at [email protected].
