The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a Wind Advisory for Accomack and Northampton counties, effective from 9 AM to 6 PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Residents should prepare for south winds of 25 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph throughout the day.
The strong winds could result in downed tree limbs and power outages in some areas. Unsecured outdoor objects, such as patio furniture and trash cans, may be blown around, creating potential hazards. Additionally, driving conditions could be challenging, especially for high-profile vehicles like trucks, trailers, and RVs on open roads and bridges.
Residents are encouraged to take precautions by securing any loose outdoor items and exercising caution while driving. It is also advisable to charge electronic devices in case of power outages and to have flashlights and emergency supplies readily available. The National Weather Service urges residents to remain alert and report any fallen trees or power disruptions to local authorities.
This advisory also extends to portions of Maryland, including Wicomico, Somerset, Inland Worcester, and Maryland Beaches. Residents in all affected areas should stay informed by monitoring local weather updates and following guidance from emergency management officials.
