A local waterman admitted Monday in Northampton Circuit Court to a cocaine distribution charge.
Fifty-one-year-old Leroy Johnson, of Bayford Road in Nassawadox, pleaded guilty to a third or subsequent offense of possession with intent to distribute cocaine on July 11, 2023. Four other “like charges” were not prosecuted. Sentencing was set for April 14.
In another case, 20-year-old Dashawn Richard, of 30th Ave, in Brooklyn, N.Y., was sentenced to 10 years in prison with all but time served suspended for receiving a stolen vehicle valued at $1,000 or more on July 4, 2022. Richard pleaded guilty to the charge. He was also fined $200 and will be on supervised probation for three years.
In addition, Richard was convicted of going 100 mph in a 55-mph zone and was given a six-month suspended sentence.
Forty-eight-year-old Dwight Preston Odum Jr., of Newport News, pleaded guilty to unauthorized use of a vehicle valued at more than $1,000 belonging to Rez Electric. Sentencing was set for Feb. 10. Charges of grand theft and destruction of more than $1,000 worth of property belonging to Mark Usry were not prosecuted.
