
The Virginia Institute of Marine Science’s Eastern Shore Laboratory in Wachapreague is accepting applications for a paid Lab & Field Summer Intern position for students from Accomack and Northampton counties.
The internship is based at the Eastern Shore Laboratory, part of the Virginia Institute of Marine Science. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a high school, college, or university program and be at least a rising high school senior.
Interns will assist with marine science research by helping with field and laboratory data collection, sample handling, equipment preparation, and general lab maintenance. Some work may take place aboard small boats in marine environments.
The position pays $15.50 per hour and is a temporary, hourly role not to exceed six months. Work hours are limited under state manpower guidelines. The internship is open only to residents of Accomack or Northampton County.
