With sunshine, a temperature of 50 degrees and water temperature at 48, nearly a hundred costumed participants charged into the Atlantic Ocean off Assateague at 1:24 Monday afternoon for the 12th Annual Chincoteague Polar Pony Plunge. Hosted by ChincoteagueChristmas.com, the event drew over a hundred spectators plus plenty of plungers who make this event a New Year’s Day tradition.
