At their regular meeting on September 20, the Accomack
County Board of Supervisors requested VDOT to conduct a traffic study at the intersection of Warrior Drive and Lankford Highway in Onley.   Warrior Drive handles traffic for both Nandua High and Nandua Middle Schools.   The study was completed and VDOT concluded that at the present time a stop light at the intersection is not warranted.

A letter from traffic engineer Mr. Robert A.Weber stated that the study revealed that the intersection does not meet the required criteria to warrant a traffic light. Weber said that only at peak hours does the amount of traffic entering Rt. 13 raise concerns. Weber said that a review of the crashes at the intersection over the last three years revealed no crashes that could be corrected with the installation of a traffic signal.

Weber also said that access to the northbound lane of Rt. 13 can easily be accessed via Redwood Road to Badger Lane and also Madigan Way which is south of WalMart which is also signalized.
