Virginia Living Magazine recently published it’s Best of Virginia for 2018 issue and three local businesses and one event were featured as Best of in the eastern region of the state.

The best art gallery was At Altitude Gallery in Cape Charles. Since 2015 owner Gordon Campbell has featured his unique photography of the Eastern Shore from the air. His aerial landscape photography mounted on metal panels features breath taking views of the marshes, islands and towns of the Eastern Shore.   You can see Gordon’s work on shoredailynews.wpstagecoach.com.

The Best Book Store is Sundial Books on Chincoteague. Housed in one of the oldest two story buildings on the island, owners Jonathan and Janet feature a large selection of both new and used books with a collection of titles dedicated to regional and local art.

 

The Best Equestrian Event is the annual Chincoteague Pony Swim and Round up which raised $210,000 last year. This year’s will be the 93rd Pony Penning and will take place on Wednesday, July 25.

 

The Best Bridal Boutique honor went to Russells Formal and Bridal in Parksley. The old shopfeatures elegant dresses by Justin Alexander, Casablanca, and the Rebecca Ingram collection by Maggie Sottero. Owners Debbie and Frank Russell have been serving Eastern Shore Brides and Grooms for 34 years and often provide transportation and wedding consultation.
