Two swimmers rescued from the surf at Assateague Sunday afternoon

The Chincoteague Fire Department was called to the beach at Assateague Sunday afternoon after two swimmers got caught in a rip current.  The swimmers were taken from the water by life guards at the beach. At the time one was reported to be unconscious but breathing the other was conscious.  Both were transported to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital.
