A sixty-year-old Chincoteague man, who was dressed in a jail jumpsuit and toted an oxygen tank in Accomack Circuit Court Thursday, was sentenced to a decade in prison for distributing heroin.
Seven years was suspended for Robert Gene Cherrix, of Cherrix Lane, in a plea bargain, leaving him with three years to serve. The crime occurred on July 26, 2022. An indictment was handed down in May of 2023, just before his arrest.
In another case, Amber Nicole Killmon, pleaded guilty to a Feb. 11, 2024 count of possession of methamphetamine. Judgment was withheld because she is a first offender. She must be drug- and alcohol-free for a year for the charge to be dismissed. The court ordered her to pay court costs and do 100 hours of community service. She must report back on Aug. 28, 2025.
