For the last two weeks all was quiet in the tropics.  But a tropical wave west of the Winward Islands shows signs of possibly developing into a tropical storm early next week.

According to forecasters at the National Hurricane Center, A large tropical wave located a couple of hundred miles east of the Lesser Antilles is producing some shower and thunderstorm activity. Environmental conditions are forecast to gradually become more conducive for development while the system moves generally west-northwestward over the southwestern Atlantic Ocean, and a tropical depression could form late this week or over the weekend while the system is in the vicinity of the Greater Antilles, Bahamas, or near Florida.

The European model has the storm developing and heading up the East Coast, while the GFS is showing storm will cross Florida and affect the Gulf Coast.

Stay tuned through the weekend and early next week for updates.
