The tropical storm watch issued for the Tidewater Area and the Chesapeake Bay has been continued. Hurricane Florence appears to be taking a southern track and the threat has been diminished. The watch extends from the Virginia North Carolina border to Cape Charles. The very southern tip of the Eastern Shore may experience gusts of over 39 mph over the next few days that are technically considered tropical storm strength,
The town of Cape Charles has issued an advisory asking residents not to swim at the beach or go on the pier during the next couple of days.
